|5/19/18||It was a fun softball 1A regional, at Routt, as the Brown County Hornets defeated Routt Catholic 4-2. It was special because the Hornets had beaten the Rockets by double digits in both of their regualr season games. Routt led this title game 1-0 going into the bottom of the 5th innings before giving up 4 runs. They came back with a run in the 6th and eventually lost with the tying run at the plate in the 7th. For the Rockets, they had 5 hits, 2 runs, 1 error and left 5 on base. Martin had 2 hits in the loss and Powell went the distance as she allowed 7 hits and 4 runs with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Hornets will take a 20-10 record into the CPC sectional where they will face either Hardin-Calhoun who beat them by a run earlier in the year, or they will play West Central. This has been a great season for the Hornets and they aren't done yet.|

|12/8/16||It was not a well played game tonight in girl's basketball as Rushville-Industry hosted Macomb. There were 69 turnovers in the battle that Macomb hung on to win 46-43. They had a good 4th quarter with 4 for 5 from the field and 8 for 10 from the free throw line. Over all they hit 34% of their shots and 76% of their free throws with 35 turnovers. Lester (15) and Hare (12) had double figures to lead the Bombers who are now 3 & 8 and the 19th seed in the up-coming Lady Tiger Tournament. Rushville-Industry hit 30% of their shots and 64% of their free throws with 34 turnovers in the loss. They were led by Lamb with 15 and Chancy with 13 as they fell to 2 & 7 on the year and are the 22nd ranked team in Beardstown.|
|5/21/16||Brown County came into today's baseball game with a 14-12 record and an underdog to the 24-3 Abington-Avon Tornadoes. They played a pretty good most of the time, but they did two things you just can't do and win. They walked 7 batters and made 5 errors and that was too much to overcome. They had 5 hits, 2 runs 5 errors and left 7 runners on base. Sussenbach took the loss and Lewis led the Hornets with 2 hits in the loss. The Tornadoes had 6 hits, 5 runs, 3 errors and they left 10 runners on base. They improved to 25-3 and will play in the Lewistown sectional next week. Struhs recorded the win and Sunquist got the save.Fordyce led the way with 2 hits and showed a lot of speed on the bases.|
|5/19/16||It was a very good softball game today, at G-Perry as the Tornadoes took a 2-0 lead until the 3rd when the Rockets scored 3 and held on until the bottom of the 7th, when G-P scored 4 to put the game away. The highlight was a 3 run home run off the bat of Peyton Bonds. Routt finished their season with a 16-15 record and a lot of good returning players for next season. They had 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 errors and left 5 on base. The Tornadoes ended with 8 hits, 6 runs, 0 errors and they also left 5 on base. Brite recorded the win and Abbott the loss.Abbott led the Rockets with 2 hits while Ellis and Smith had 2 hits each for the Tornadoes. G-P will take a 20-14 record into the title game with CPC, who is 28-7, on Saturday at 11:00. We will carry the game on WKXQ 92.5 and follow it with a baseball game between Brown County and Abingdon (Avon) at 2 pm from Mt. Sterling.|
|4/15/16||The young Lady Hornet team made some mental errors today and lost a 5 to 3 decision to the Lady Tigers of Beardstown. They made 3 physical errors a couple of mistakes that allowed the Tigers to score from third, basically, unchallenged. Softball and baseball are fundamental games but everyone needs to stay aware of what is going on around the field so you don't end up just throwing the ball around while your opponent gets some easy runs. If these two meet again, I would expect another entertaining and close match. The Tigers ended up with 5 hits, 5 runs, 1 error and they left 6 on base. Rawlins recorded win with a save going to Lewis. Hailey Alsup went the distance for the Hornets and pitched a good enough game to have won. The Hornets had 4 hits, 3 runs, 3 errors (2 costly) and left 4 on base. They didn't get the key hits when they needed them and the cagey Tigers did just enough to grab the win. Beardstown is 8 and 9 and Brown County fell to 10 and 5. We will see the Hornets on Saturday at the Rushville-Industry tournament.|
|4/14/16||Brown County scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th and defeated Grigsville-Perry 9-4 to improve to 10-6 on the year. It was a great 4 inning snd tied at 4 each, but the Hornets lit it up in the 5th. They will face Beardstown tomorrow afternoon at the home of the Tigers.Markert, Chloe Alsup and Dani Buss had 2 hits each and Kelly Buss hit a solo home run as Brown County had 11 hits, 9 runs, 3 errors and they left 7 on base. Alissa Hodge was the winning pitcher and Jordan Brite took the loss for the Tornaoes. G-Perry was led by Brite with 2 hits and Kessisnger with 2 hits. They had 8 hits, 4 runs, 5 errors and left 6 on base.|
|1/22/16||In an exciting high school boy's basketball game tonight, it was Brown County defeating WHNG 53-47 behind a 19 point effort by Sussenbach and 11 from Lewis. The Hornets shot 51% from the field and only 29% from the free throw line with 13 turnovers. They improved to 11-6 on the year. The Spartans hit 32% of their shots and 13 of 17 free throws with just 12 turnovers, but it wasn't enough. Jonah Hopper had 18 points and Bushnell 11, in the loss, as WHNG fell to 8 and 7 on the year.|
